Cliff Palace at Night
Colorado
In 2006 Mesa Verde National Park celebrated their 100th anniversary as a National Park. On the last day of the year long celebration they lit the largest ruin in the park, Cliff Palace, with lanterns. A park ranger said this will be the last time they ever do this, so it was literally a once in a lifetime opportunity. Apart from the crowds, one could envision what Cliff Palace might have looked like 800 years ago when it was inhabited and lit only by fires lit by the Anasazi. It was definitely a memorable night. This panoramic image was stitched together from 3 photographs. Photo © copyright by Scott Fricke.
