This is a dry lake bed, or playa, in Death Valley. The playa is full of rocks that appear to move along the surface and create tracks. No one really knows how this occurs but scientists believe they move when the playa is wet and heavy winds move the rocks on the lubricated surface. Photo © copyright by Scott Fricke.
