Skogarfoss

Iceland

Legend says an early Viking settler feuded with his children and to deprive them of his wealth he used his incredible strength to hide a chest of gold behind the 200 foot high falls. For generations young men attempted to retrieve the chest and failed. The story says one man finally reached the chest but when he tried to pull it out of the torrent a brass ring came off in his hand. That ring now adorns the front door of the local church. I set a timer on my camera and ran out to add some scale to the waterfall. Photo © copyright by Scott Fricke.
