Vortex

Arizona

This image was taken in late December when the sun can't reach the bottom of the slot canyon. Instead of the bright orange glow normally associated with this slot canyon, winter finds the sandstone walls awash in deep reds and purples. The sculpted shapes of Antelope Canyon are formed by erosion from flash floods crashing through the narrow confines of the canyon. Photo © copyright by Scott Fricke.
